FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

News from the Oakland Airport

Travelers to the Oakland Airport will enjoy expanded service by AC Transit, Southwest Airlines and Aloha Airlines.

AC Transit: Recently began 24 hours express service to and from the Oakland Airport and San Francisco. From the Airport, the route makes stops at Oakland Amtrak, Jack London Square, and the 12th Street BART station before terminating at the TransBay Terminal at First and Mission in downtown San Francisco. The air-conditioned luxury buses feature luggage racks and lap-top plug-ins and run twice an hour from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and once an hour from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Southwest Airlines: New flights have been added to Las Vegas, Ontario and Salt Lake City in addition to the 115 existing flights per day.

Aloha Airlines: Travelers using Aloha Airlines will now have the option to continue to Las Vegas.

The Coalition to Bring Bart to the Oakland International Airport has 121 companies and civic organizations plus 7 chambers of commerce including the Alameda Chamber. We have demonstrated our support of the proposed Airport Connector project which will link Coliseum BART to the Oakland Airport.

The Airport Area Business Association is a great source of information regarding the Oakland Airport. You may contact them at 510-562-8228.

Plans underway for BART connection to Oakland Airport

The number of passengers flying from the Oakland Airport is expected to double by 2020. The proposed 3-mile connection between the BART Coliseum Station and the Oakland Airport will provide a seamless and convenient link for travelers. Three alternatives are currently being considered.

The project is also part of a community-wide plan to spark new interest and appropriate development in the Hegenberger Corridor and Coliseum area. Construction is already underway for two new hotels on Hegenberger, a 17-acre high tech development, a basketball sports center and Coliseum BART Station security and access improvements.
